The varsity tennis team drilled Williams 8-1 yesterday, but the going was fairly rough.

Sandy Walker dropped his number six match in two sets: Chum Steele, at number three, had to fight off match points is both the second and third sets before winning; and Dave Benjamin lost a set in the number two match.

Frank Ripley was extended in the top match, but won in straight sets, 3-6, 6-4. Only Clive Klleff and Dean Peckham, four and five respectively, won easily.

The doubles weren't much easier. Steele and Peckham dropped a set in the number one match, and Al Terrell and Terry Robinson had a difficult time winning 9-7, 8-6 at number three. Walker and Klleff took the second match in straight sets.

It was a good warmup for a match Saturday in which the Crimson faces an invading Princeton team that hasn't lost a match in its last 38. The Tigers, unbeaten this season, ended Miami's 137-match winning streak during vacation. Since coming north, no Princeton player has lost a singles match.

But the Crimson is far from giving up. "If anybody's going to beat those guys, it'll be Harvard." coach Jack Barnaby says.
