A national jury of architects and librarians has selected the Leverett House Library for an architectural award to be presented in early May, citing the design as "an unusual solution for a college 'house' library." The award is sponsored jointly by The American Institute of Architects, The American Library Association and the National Book Committee.

In selecting the library for one of seven awards in the college library division, the jury commented that its design "creates a quiet, intimate atmosphere appropriate to its use." The architectural layout of the library produces "an interesting spatial arrangement with two high-rise dormitories and a center of interest in this building group," the jury continued. The library was designed by Shepley, Bulfinch, Richardson and Abbot.
