BEATS JAYWALKING RAP

A junior at the University of Toronto pleaded temporary insanity to a jaywalking charge last week. He crossed against the red light, he said, because he was preoccupied with worries about essays and tests.

The magistrate commented that he was aware of the emotional stress at U. of T. and gave the boy a suspended sentence. The student saved $S in fines.
