The results of the current Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) fund drive in the Houses and the Union have been "very disappointing so far," according to Robert E. Wright '65, chairman of the Harvard-Radcliffe Civil Rights Coordinating Committee.
The drive, which will continue through Saturday, is being conducted to raise funds for SNCC civil rights activities in the South.
Up to last night only $600 of the original $3000 goal had been raised. This light response has led SNCC drive leaders to lower their sights to a less-optimistic $2000. A similar drive at Stanford last November netted almost $6000.
Leverett, Lowell, Quincy, and Winthrop have been the top contributors with almost $100 apiece, while Dunster, Eliot, and the Yard bring up the rear.
The volunteers are selling SNCC buttons, "Freedom" song books, and "Freedom" record albums.
