Dept. May Offer Ec 116 After All

Economics 116 will probably be given this semester, even though its scheduled lecturer never arrived from Brazil.

William S. Barnes, director of inter-American studies, said last night that the future of the course on Latin American economics "will certainly be settled before Wednesday." Calvin P. Blair, visiting professor of Business Administration, is expected to lecture in the "rejuvenated" course.

Barnes asked that everyone who wanted to take Ec 116 come to Sever 29 at 11 a.m. today. He added that if enough people found the course's proposed meeting time (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 11) inconvenient, he "would at least consider" moving it up an hour.

Marie Simonsen, the visiting lecturer who was supposed to teach Ec 116, was kept at home by "a family situation." Plans were made to drop the course and substitute Ec 292, a seminar on business and government, but the department found few students adequately prepared.
