PBH Indian Project To Add New Tribes

Phillips Brooks House American Project volunteers may visit two new tribes this summer and organize a marching band in one of them, Constance C. Lewis '66, chairman of the program, said last night.

The addition of the Hopi Indians in Arizona and the Comanches in Oklahoma to the four-year old project will enlarge it by one-third.

"We teach reading and writing and lead recreation in an attempt to improve Indian-white relationships and to show the children that we respect their heritage," Miss Lewis explained. She added that the volunteers also try to get the Indian adults to work together to solve their problems.

Those interested in being one of this summer's 26 volunteers may obtain applications at PBH by Jan. 11.
