Varsity Eleven Will Play Holy Cross, Tufts in 1965

Holy Cross and Tufts replace Massachusetts and Bucknell as Harvard's non-Ivy opponents next year, according to the 1965 Crimson football schedule. Both schools on next fall's slate beat the Crimson in their last meetings, but Harvard holds a series edge in each of the rivalries.

Holy Cross, whose schedule still includes Eastern powerhouses Boston College and Syracuse, will play in the Stadium in the season opener, Sept. 25. The Crusaders routed Harvard 34-20 in 1962, but the overall series record stands at 18-9-1 in favor of the Crimson.

Tufts plays here Oct. 2 for the first time since 1956, when they upset Harvard 19-13. The Crimson holds a 15-5 edge in this series.

Harvard's Ivy schedule, for the first time this century, includes four away games, at Cornell, Penn, Brown, and Yale. Columbia kicks off the league season in the Stadium Oct. 9. Dartmouth visits Cambridge two weeks later, after the Cornell game, and Princeton plays here the week after the encounter at Penn.
