The Dupont Company has awarded Harvard funds totalling $28,000 in its annual program of aid to education. All funds are earmarked for use in strengthening teaching and research programs in the fields of science and engineering.
The money is part of a total of $1,80,000 granted to 168 colleges and universities throughout the country. The largest single amount went to the Physics Department, which will receive $15,000 to be used for basic research.
Two awards of $5,000 were made. One is to go to the Chemistry Department for use in basic research. The other is to be used to "strengthen undergraduate teaching of subjects that contribute most significantly to scientific and engineering education."
The remaining $3,000 will be given to the Medical School for use in strengthening the teaching of biochemistry.
