Kennedy, Pusey Honored by B.C.

President Kennedy will speak at Boston College Saturday. At the ceremonies, culminating a week-long observance of the college's centennial celebration, President Pusey will receive an honorary degree.

Kennedy has not revealed when he will reach Boston or what topic he will speak about.

The Very Reverend Michael P. Walsh, President of Boston College, will present three honorary degrees Saturday. Pusey will receive a Doctor of Humane Letters degree. The Very Reverend Edward B. Bunn, President of Georgetown University, and Lady Barbara Ward Jackson, British economist and author, will also be honored.

During this week's celebration, prominent theologians and scholars have been participating in a series of discussions and lectures relating the roles of the church and tradition. Sessions today, tomorrow, and Friday will deal with a colloquy on the humanities, the social sciences, and the natural sciences. The theme of the three-day colloquium is "The Knowledge Explosion: Liberation and Limitation."

Among the speakers is John H. Finley, Jr. '25, Eliot Professor of Greek Literature. Finley will deliver a speech entitled "The Inward Voice of the Classics" this morning. Howard Mumford Jones, Abbott Lawrence Professor of the Humanities, Emeritus, will also speak today.

Other speakers during the colloquy will include Professor Paul A. Weiss of the Rockefeller Institute, Professor Samuel A. Goudsmit of the Brookhaven National Laboratories, Professor Francis O. Schmitt of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Professor Harold G. Cassidy of Yale.

The White House announced last week that the President would speak at the centennial celebration. Kennedy will make a special trip to Boston for that purpose, but he has not yet disclosed when he will arrive or on what topic he will speak.
