'Advocate' Announces Contest

Visiting professors Robert Lowell and Mark Van Doren will judge a literary contest sponsored by the Harvard Advocate for undergraduates who have not previously published in the magazine.

The deadline for submissions, now being accepted at 21 South St., is April 1. Prizes of $25 will be awarded for the best pieces in each of two categories, poetry and short stories. Both winning pieces will appear in the next issue of the Advocate.

Undergraduates may enter as many poems and stories as they wish. The Advocate will reserve the right to publish contest submissions whether or not they win a prize.

Lowell, who will evaluate the poetry entries, teaches English Sa, Advanced Writing, and English 285, The Craft of Poetry. Van Doren, on leave from Columbia University, will judge the prose pieces. His courses here are English Sb, Advanced Writing, and Humanities 119, The Narrative Art.
