Few Dorms Use Full Parietals

Few Radcliffe dorms have voted to accept the maximum number of parietal hours permitted by a recent RGA decision.

Barnard Hall, 124 Walker Street, and most of the off-campus houses accepted the maximum 25 hours per week. Briggs and Comstock Halls, however, decided not to increase their parietals. Briggs, with its two hours of parietals every fourth Sunday afternoon, has the fewest hours of any Radcliffe dorm.

Eliot Hall responded more enthusiastically to the RGA decision by increasing its parietal hours to 20 per week. Bertram, Cabot, and Comstock voted to accept up to seven and a half hours. Holmes, Moors, and Whitman merely enlarged the Sunday afternoon allowance from three to four.

Most of the dorms have reconsidered their parietal systems within the past few weeks in response to the RGA decision which raised the maximum number of hours from 3 to 25 per week.

Barnard's 25 hours are between 2 and 10 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays and between lunch and supper on Saturdays and Sundays. Eliot has accepted parietals between noon and 10 p.m. on Wednesdays and Sundays.
