'Poon, Gargoyle, City To Clash Today Over Fate of 'Poon Castle

The Gargoyle, the Lampoon, and the city of Cambridge will clash at a City Council meeting this afternoon over the future of the 'Poon castle, which may be requistioned for public service as a rest room.

Action at the meeting will depend on the presence of City Councillor Alfred E. Vellucci, currently incapacitated with Asian flu. If he has recovered by today, Vellucci will formally propose his plan for converting the 'Poon castle.

The Vellucci proposal will counter an already doomed 'Poon proposal to name the intersection of Bow and Plympton Streets Lampoon Square.

The Gargoyle, claiming "overwhelming public support for the castle's conversion," will present Vellucci with their George Burrough's Award, an annual distinction given in honor of the only Harvard alumnus over to be burned as a witch.
