The Brattle Theatre celebrated its tenth anniversary as a motion picture theatre yesterday with an invitational showing of "The Lady with the Dog," a new Russian film based on a story by Anton Chekhov. Regular showings of the film begin today.
"Lady with the Dog" stars Ya Savina in her first major film appearance and Alexei Batalov, who starred in "The Cranes are Flying." For the next three weeks, the Brattle will present a three week retrospective showing of Russian films since 1952.
About 250 people attended yesterday's premiere screening.
