George Blecher '62 has received the Ross Prize for his short story. A Trip to the Magyar. The $500 award is given to the best short story by a Harvard undergraduate written during the year.
Honorable mention was given to George D. Horwitz '62, Richard H. de Lone '62, and Edward Lynch '65.
The judges were Monroe Engel, lecturer on English, Theodore Morrison, lecturer on English, and Edgar Rosenberg, Briggs-Copeland Assistant Professor of English Composition, Engel reported a surprisingly high number of entries. "We were delighted not only by the variety of the stories, but by the high quality of many of them," he said.
This is the second year that the prize, in memory of Harold Ross, former editor of the New Yorker, has been awarded.
