Coke Strike Continues As Negotiations Flop

Get your Coca-Cola in a hurry. Negotiations yesterday to settle the Coke bottlers strike came to a complete stalemate, and within a matter of days the beverage will be unavailable in Cambridge except in syrup form.

The dispute centers over the union's demand for a considerable wage increase and fringe benefits. Ralph Gilman, business agent for the union, says that the company treats the workers as "necessary evils," and is "offering ultimatums instead of negotiations."

A. E. Lundquist, president of the Boston bottling company, declined to comment on the strike.
