To the Editors of the CRIMSON:
I was on my way home--about 11 o'clock on a Sunday nite--several weeks ago. I live on Beacon, a few doors down from Dartmouth. The street is poorly illuminated due to the heavy foliage of the trees--esp. as you approach the intersections. It was deserted.
I suddenly became aware that 3 beatnick-type-thug-like young hoodlums were in the rear and evidently following me. As I neared a small street intersection--they came on--one on the left--one on the right--& one in back--evidently to surround me. But--I quickened my pace and dangled my holster: I pulled out my trusty pipe in gun-like fashion. "Stop this moment--or I'll fire at you--I have a loaded gun in my hand."
They scattered--they ran--like mad--& I felt relieved--the tension was relieved.
Moral: (Food For Thought) if you don't carry a gun--keep a holster & pipe on hand. They may have mugged & robbed me & may have killed me. Who knows? Jack ("Uncle Jack") Levine, Associated with Leavitt & Peirce
