Harvard's defense proved just a little bit better than Brown's Saturday, allowing the Crimson soccer team to edge the Bruins 1-0.

With one twist of his neck, junior star Ohris Ohiri defeated Brown, tied an Ivy League scoring record, and lifted the Crimson back into League contention.

Harvard had been undergoing a frustrating morning until Ohiri headed the hall into the goal after four minutes of the third period. The Crimson had kept the ball in Bruin territory for most of the first half, but had displayed the weakness that has held them back all season, an inability to propel the ball past the goalie.

Although Harvard failed to take advantage of several more scoring opportunities in the second half, the Crimson defense made certain that the one goal margin was enough for the victory. Harvard goalie John Adams was positively bored as the defense, led by fullback Walt Winslow and Lou Williams, jealously guarded the home team's territory, refusing to let Brown come anywhere near the goal.

Ohiri's goal, his eighth of the season, tied the same Ivy League scoring mark that Chris tied, but could not break, last year. Still slowed by a pulled leg muscle, Ohiri will have one more chance to break the record in next Saturday's tilt with Yale.

A lot more than Ohiri's record may be riding on the Yale game. Right now Pennsylvania leads Harvard in the Ivy standings by one game. Penn has a 4-1-1 League record, compared to the Crimson's 4-2. If Penn either ties or loses to Cornell Wednesday, Harvard can tie or win the Ivy League title. Despite Cornell's seventh place League standing, the Big Red has improved considerably since the start of the season and stands a good chance against the Quakers.
