Kaysen Awarded Washington Post

Carl Kaysen, professor of Economics, has received a Washington appointment. He will serve as a consultant to former dean McGeorge Bundy, assistant to the President for national security affairs.

Kaysen will take a year's leave of absence, beginning at the end of this term. He is already making occasional trips to the capital.

It is rumored that John T. McNaughton, professor of Law, will also spend next winter in Washington. McNaughton said yesterday, however, that his plans were "not definite." The opening he may fill is as a consultant to Paul H. Nitzel '28, assistant Secretary of Defense for International Affairs. His work would deal primarily with disarmament.

Kaysen said yesterday that he expects to be assigned to problems within the entire range of National Security Council jurisdiction.
