The Faculty Committee on Houses--including the Masters, Dean Monro, Dean Watson, and President Pusey--will study possible changes in procedure for assigning freshmen to the Houses.
On Monday, David E. Owen, Master of Winthrop House, called for a full investigation of the present selection process. Pusey said yesterday that he expected the Committee to suggest revisions before assigning the Class of 1965 to Houses next spring.
"Many of the Masters like the present system but think that it is too time consuming." Dean Monro stated: "others like this way in spite of the tremendous amount of work involved."
Monro said that assigning about 80 per cent of each freshman class to first, second, or third choices has always been considered a virtue. According to Monro, the Masters now question whether a student's choice should be considered.
Pusey and Monro said that no one as yet has produced an alternative to the present system, called by Owen "definitely not satisfactory."
