Bainbridge Receives New Physics Chair

Kenneth T. Bainbridge, a professor of Physics known for his research on isotopes and radioactivity, has been appointed the first George Yasmer Leverett Professor of Physics.

The Leverett Chair was created in 1958, to be held by either a physicist or a mathematician, but has remained vacant until this week.

Bainbridge has been professor of Physics since 1946. In 1933 he reported the first accurate experimental check on Albert Einstein's theory of the equivalence of mass and energy.
