The Faculty of Amherst College has unamiously voted to end the controversy of under-achiever program. In effect the fall of 1958, the program designed a mandatory leave of absence for students considered to be working below their ability.
Nominations of possible under-achievers made by Faculty members, have declined sharply in the last year. In the program's initial year, seven sophomores and five juniors were required to take a leave of absence. Last year, only one student was required to leave the campus.
