The Crimson wrestlers picked up ten points in an amasing show of strength at the Eastern Intercollegiates yesterday. Harvard is tied with Navy for fifth place in team standings and should finish no lower than seventh in the sixteen-school tourney ending today.

Harvard was expected to take only three fourth-places, but Bob Kolodney upset two seeded competitors and will enter the semi-finals today. Four other Crimson matmen survived the opening round, but lost in the quarter-finals. Coach Bob Pickett described the team's performance at "beyond expectation."

Varsity captain Nick Estabrook pinned Bob Eschback of Temple at 5:54 but was defeated in an afternoon match by Penn's Joe Johnston in the 137 lb. class. Crimson heavyweight Tom Gaston avenged his defeat earlier this year by Brown's Bill Wood when he pinned the Bruin star, before losing to Bill Moore of Lahigh.

In other matches, Yale captain Hardy Will beat the Crimson's Red Grant (191), who had taken his first bout by default. At 136 George Doub beat Yale's Phill Scott but was decisioned 6 to 4 by Rutgers wrestler John Janish.

Taking six points for pins, two for default, and two for wins, Harvard ranks far above the other competing Ivy League schools. Yale is closest with five points. Favored Lehigh ranks first with 26 points, followed by Rutgers (17), Penn and Pitt (15), and Army (12).

Other Crimson matmen were Ed Greitzer (123), who lost a 12-3 decision to Bill Shattery of Penn; J.C. von Helms (147) defeated 3 to 0 by Don Natvig of Navy; Tom Owsley (167), beaten 6 to 0 by Pete Schantz of Penn; and John Valentine (177), pinned by Bob Donsanti of Penn at 2:27.
