Squash coach Jack Barnaby's "run 'em ragged' tactics paid off last night as the Crimson blanked M.I.T. 9-0, in Hemenway Gymnasium.

Junior Doug Walter exemplified the successful method as he wore down Tech's Joe Strutt in the number four match. Walter held off the scrappy Strutt for a 15-11 victory in the first game, forcing the Tech man to run all over the court to retrieve shots, while Walter held the center court. The quickly-tiring Strutt ran slower in the second and third games, losing 7-15 and 4-15 respectively.

In the number one match between the Crimson's Nick Niederhoffer and Tech's George Meyer, humor was more common than smooth squash playing. Meyer punctuated the game with exclamations of admiration for Niederhoffer's play and other darker mutterings while losing a loosely-played match 11-15, 11-15, 11-15.

Captain Roger Wiegand used a powerful forehand shot to overcome a 13-16 first-game loss, winning the next three games 15-11, 15-12, and 15-9.

Sophomore John Vinton utilized an adroit backhand shot in defeating Tech captain Joe Rapport 17-16, 15-13, and 15-6.

Lou Williams, Hamp Howell, Clark Grew, Jay Nelson, Alex McDonell, and John Thorndike each won a match for the Crimson to complete the sweep. All finished strongly, winning their final games by substantial margins. Only one of their matches was stretched to four games.

Granting that the Engineers have a perenially weak squash team, the Crimson victory was still impressive enough to raise hopes for the team remaining undefeated.
