Club 47's Art Gallery Will Open Saturday With City Permit

Club Mt. Auburn will reopen its art gallery Saturday with a Cambridge building permit issued yesterday afternoon.

The Club can't resume serving its mixture of coffee, jazz, and folk songs, however, until, at the earliest, Friday, Dec. 22, when Middlesex Superior Court hears police charges that the Club operated without entertainment license or a victunler's license.

A party of police, fire, and building inspectors closed the Club Oct. 30, several hours before the scheduled start of a second "Sing Out for SANE."

Deputy Fire Inspector Francis Connaily finally approved the Club building yesterday, clearing the way for the permit.

Meanwhile, Victor D. Oppenheimer, president of Mount Auburn, Inc., said that the organization will have to close permanently unless the Court gives a prompt decision on the licensing charges. The group is already "considerably in arrears" on rent and other bills, Oppenheimer admitted.
