The University's Rugby Club came from behind to upset favored Dartmouth, one of the nation's top teams, 6 to 3, at Soldiers Field Saturday afternoon.

A successful try on a penalty kick by captain John van-Schalkwyk with ten minutes left in the game gave the Crimson its third victory in four starts.

The Big Green jumped to a 3-0 lead mid-way in the first half, after Dartmouth had controlled the ball in the Harvard end for most of the period. The Indians had chosen to play the wind when they won the coin toss before the game.

After the teams changed sides at intermission, Harvard kept the ball in the Dartmouth end for most of the second half. Lee Freeman scored after ten minutes of the period to tie the score, and van-Schalkwyk's winning score came after a Dartmouth player failed to relinquish when tackled, van-Schalkwyk's successful penalty kick meant Dartmouth's first defeat since its lone loss last fall.

When the Big Green scored in the first half, the Crimson was without one of its players. Buss Miller was on the bench getting stitches for an eye injury and was unable to return to play until the second half No substitutes are allowed in rugby
