J.V.
Undefeated JV football squad plays its Ivy League game today against Dartmouth at 2 p.m. at Soldiers Field. Jack Tim Cangar, who engineered the JV's come-from-behind 22-17 victory over UConn last week, will lead the Crimson against the slightly favored Indians.
Bolstering the tough JV line is left end Bill Stephenson. But the Crimson's good pass defense won't help much against the powerful running of Dartmouth.
Lack of depth in the backfield may hurt the JV. Left half Sal Fiscina and right half Harris LeRoy, playing for the first time this year, will see action in the game.
'Pass, Run Well'
Norm Shepard said last night that the JV is a "well-balanced team. We pass well, and we run well." Asked to predict the probable outcome of the game, Shepard called it a "toss-up."
The three JV wins have come against the UConn, Tufts, and Newport Naval. In the UConn game the JV won despite the loss of ace quarterback Bill Humenuk, who had moved up to the varsity. Casgar completed two spectacular passes to lead the Crimson to victory. A JV game against Brown has been cancelled.
Freshman
Sparked by quarterback Tom Bilodeau and halfback Stan Yazstremski, the undefeated freshman football team will clash with Dartmouth in an away game this afternoon.
The Crimson freshman crushed Brown 21-8 in a game played in Providence last week and rolled ever Tufts 21-6 in the season opener. In the Tufts contest quarterback George Spoto passed for one touchdown and scored once.
Dartmouth's freshman squad, which has yet to record a victory, has lost to both Brown and Holy Cross.
