Indefeated Fencers Play Host to Big Red

The varsity fencing team, undefeated in the pre-Christmas matches, opens the 1961 Ivy League season tomorrow against Cornell at 3 p.m. in the IAB.

Victors over MIT, Brandeis, and Bradford-Durfee this season, the Crimson fencers hope to improve on last year's 0-5, last place League finish. Leading the Crimson against the Big Red visitors will be captain Larry Johnson, who thus far has been successful in foils.

Coach Edo Marion's most consistently strong performers have been on the sabre squad. John Piel, Lajos Meder, and Jamie Covey will start tomorrow afternoon in sabre.

Cornell, coached by George Cointe, has had a large turnover in personnel since finishing with a 1-4 record in League competition, one notch ahead of the Crimson in the six-team loop. The Red are strongest in foil and epee, in which several lettermen return.
