A new endowed chair will be established at the School of Public Health, President Pusey announced yesterday. In honor of the School's founder, it will be called the Roger Irving Lee Professorship.
The chair will remain unoccupied until the entire $400,000 needed for it has been raised. Over half this amount has already been collected by a committee of six local businessmen, which is directing the fund-raising.
Lee '02 founded the School in 1924 as an outgrowth of the Harvard-M.I.T. School for Health Officers, established in 1913, and was the School's first dean. He received an honorary degree from the University in 1954.
Meanwhile, Radcliffe announced the appointment of Mrs. Rene K. Bryant, a free-lance writer, as Special Assistant to President Mary I. Bunting. Mrs. Bryant, a former employee of Time-Life, Inc., will work part-time for the College. She has been assisting the President in the establishment of the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study.
