A new theatrical group will present the original one-act plays at the former Poets' Theatre next week, August 30-25.
The Playwrights' Workshop plans to open 8:30 curtains on "Walk Against the Wind," by Thomas Bellin; "The Players' Reportorie," by Charles L. Mee, Jr.; and Limbo by Elizabeth McGuire.
"Player's Repertoire" concerns an old road-acting couple who perform Priandello-like confusions of identity, with Claire Lu Thomas as leading lady. The style of "Limbo," according to Bellin approaches Strindberg's more closely than that of anyone else in contemporary theatre. Its author, Miss McGuire, has conceived what she calls "an ordinary, extra-ordinary, coffee shop" for her.
Although Assistant Director Israel A. Horovitz emphasized that "this is strictly a private theatre, meant only to give their young playwrights a chance to see their work in front of an audience," he stressed that Summer School students may receive invitation tickets by going quietly to the theatre at 24 Palmer St. Tickets should be picked up the evening before a performance.
