The Graduate School of Education has raised $1.25 million of the $3 million it needs to erect a new building at the corner of Kirkland and Oxford Streets.
Francis Keppel '38, Dean of the School of Education, expects the fund drive to be completed by June of next year. The School began raising money last January.
With an estimated floor space of 75,000 square feet, the new building will consolidate many scattered classrooms and administrative and faculty offices now located in frame houses. In addition, it will contain a library, and common rooms.
Because Education School alumni are not notably wealthy, the fund drive has had to rely primarily on Foundation grants.
