Charles D. Leamy '60, a halfback who saw only five minutes of playing time during the 1959 football season, yesterday was named winner of the Boston Tobacco Table's "Unsung Hero Award" for 1959.
Leamy, selected by a group of New England sportswriters, will receive the award at a banquet Monday, Jan. 18. Also a baseball player, he played junior varsity football for three years and worked with the varsity in practice scrimmages. At the football banquet in December, Leamy received the William Paine LaCroix Award for sportsmanship, loyalty, and team spirti.
Varsity halfback Albert F. Cullen, Jr. '60 was among nine candidates from whom Leamy was selected. The winner is the third Harvard athlete to gain the honor.
Phillip L. Isenberg '51 and Frank H. White '55 were also honored by the Tobacco Table's award.
