University to Begin Clinic in Obstetrics

Wives of University students may join special obstetrical clinics, the University Health Services announced yesterday. The first clinic for expectant wives will be held this Thursday, 8-10 a.m., at the Out-Patient Department of the Boston Lying-In Hospital.

Cost of the new program, which includes all hospital charges for a six-day stay, has been set at $215 for students enrolled in the Student Insurance Plan and $235 for others. Officials of the Health Services point out that this rate compares very favorably with charges for other prenatal and postpartum care plans.

Charges will appear on the students' term bills. However, only wives of registered degree candidates and married female students can qualify for the University program. Dr. Ruby Jackson, a senior obstetrician at the Boston Lying-In, will oversee the clinic.
