Tigers Defeat Golf Team, 5-2

The varsity turned in a disappointing performance this weekend on a Princeton golf course tailored specially for the Eastern Intercollegiate tournament. With the fairways narrower and the roughs three to four inches longer than usual, the team carded high scores in bowing to the Tigers, 5 to 2, in a dual meet Friday, and finished ahead of only Columbia, Holy Cross, and Brown in the 16-team three-day weekend tourney.

Al Lipsky and Fisk Warren were the only victors against Princeton, as the varsity dropped its third of four Ivy League matches and its fourth of 14 contests overall. Warren, at the second spot, won his match 2 and 1, while Lipsky, playing at number six, was forced to the 380-yard par 4 eighteenth before winning one up. After driving into the water, Lipsky played three off the tee and got down in five, but his opponent folded and logged a six.

In the Intercollegiates, none of the five Crimson starters qualified for the 16-man playoffs.
