Strong Yardling Nine To Meet Holy Cross, Seeks Second Victory

A strong freshman baseball team, led by captain Bill Morse, will try for its second win this afternoon when it faces Holy Cross here at 3 p.m. The Purple Knights, an unknown quantity at this stage in the season, have always managed to put a powerful team on the field, and Crimson pitcher Al Yarbro should not have an easy afternoon.

Yarbro, who has pitched only in relief this spring, ably proved his effectiveness against M.I.T. Saturday. Coming on in the seventh inning, with Engineers on second and third, the tall right-hander threw nine straight strikes to end the inning. Equipped with a good curve and an excellent fast ball, he could become coach Adolph Samborski's number one hurler.

Defensively, the team is exceptional, and with .500 hitter Mike Drummey leading off, the Crimson has had no trouble collecting runs.

The Freshmen split their first two games this season, dropping the opener to North-eastern, 9 to 6, and outscoring M.I.T., 9 to 5.
