Disagreement over matters of policy has led to the resignation of Stephen A. Aaron '57, as the chief director of Repertory Boston, Inc., now in its first season at the Wilbur Theatre.
Aaron has directed all of the company's productions to date and is among the three founders of the group.
He stated yesterday that his action implied no judgement on either the concept of repertory theatre or on the actors in the company, but declined to elaborate specific causes for his resignation.
Spokesmen for the acting group refused yesterday to comment on the loss of Aaron,
Aaron has directed more than 30 dramatic productions over the past five years, including some of the most highly praised student productions at Harvard. The founding of Repertory Boston with Dean Gitter '56, and John G. Eyre '58 marked the establishment of the only true repertory theatre in the United States.
So far the group has performed The Importance of Being Earnest, Six Characters in Search of an Author, and The Power and the Glory.
