The sailing team will enter the 24th Annual Brown University Spring Regatta at Providence today with little chance of being among the top finishers. Crimson skippers Carlos Rodriguez and Art Donovan will race Brown's 12-foot dinghies on the Seekonk River against a strong field of seven other teams.
Boston University is favored to retain the Lucian Sharpe Memorial Trophy, with M.I.T. and the Coast Guard Academy expected to provide the toughest opposition. Other schools competing in the regatta are Dartmouth, Rhode Island School of Design, and Yale.
In another meet tomorrow, skippers Bill Saltonstall and Hanson Robbins will attempt to overcome the defending champions from B.U. in the Boston University Invitational Regatta on the M.I.T. course. Once again, the Engineers are expected to be the strongest challengers to Terrier supremacy among the field of seven.
In a seven-school meet at Tech today the two Crimson Freshman crews stand a good chance of sailing away with honors in 12-foot Tech dinghies. The Freshman sailors will also compete in the octagonals at Brown tomorrow, at which the Coast Guard Cadets are favored to defeat their opponents.
