What started as a pleasant little jaunt to Providence turned out to be a disaster for the varsity wrestling team when Brown thrashed the visitors, 22-6.
Bob Foster, after nearly three seasons without a defeat in dual meet competition, lost to the Bruins' Gene Roberts on a freak forfeit call. Using an illegal hold--without warning from the referee--Foster injured Roberts, and the Brown wrestler was unable to continue. The referee awarded the match to Roberts on a forfeit.
Captain Joe Noble stretched his season's record to 9-1 with a 5-1 decision victory over Brown's John Moyle in the 157-pound class. Crimson heavyweight Ted Robbins, however, had his winning streak stopped at six, as he lost 11-8 to Art Giorgini.
The other Crimson victory was registered by Dave Skeels, at 123, with a 6-3 decision over Merrill Lincoln. But Carl Kludt, at 130, lost by 11-4 to Dick Seibel, and 137-pounder John Watkins was pinned for the first time this year by George Seaver.
