In a move to shorten delivery time, the collection hour for mail on Sundays and holidays has been changed from 6:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Boston area. The administration of the District Operating Office of Metropolitan Boston ordered the change so that the Sunday mail could be sorted in time to be picked up by earlier trains and planes.
