The Crimson track squad will face a host of the nation's best performers at the Knights of Columbus invitational meet Saturday night at the Boston Garden. Despite the class of the opposition, the varsity's chances are good in both individual events and the relays.
In the Farrell 500-yard run, coach Bill McCurdy said last night, the Crimson contestant, whether he is captain A1 Gordon, Dave Brahms, or Zab Warren, should do well in a field which New England's finest middle-distance runners. Joel Landau should make a good showing in the high hurdles, even though he will be up against Lee Calhoun, Elias Gilbert, and Francis Washington, perhaps the U.S.'s three best in that event.
Crimson high jumpers Kelvin Kean, John deKiewiet, and freshman Marty Beckwith will have to better their prevous marks by far to beat the amazing John Thomas of B.U., who leaped 6 ft., 11 in. for a new world indoor record his last time out.
