Students to Teach In Newton Schools

Four Harvard students will begin teaching in Newton High School this week as part of a program designed to alleviate a teacher shortage.

The Newton School System has accepted Jerry A. Bell '58, Rodney J. Hinkle 2L, John C. Provine '60 and Frank R. Rossiter '59 as tentative student teachers, and hopes to place them as soon as possible. Two students accepted last year could not participate because of health reasons.

David M. Goldberg '59, chairman of the program, and the only student who taught classes last year, announced last night that negotiations are now under way to place student teachers in Belmont High School. Goldberg hopes that 15 students from the University will be teaching by the end of the year.
