'61 Elects Oliver, Wyman, Zagat As Members of Student Council

Illegal Procedures Charged

Freshmen elected three new representatives to the Student Council last night amid complaints that one prospective candidate had been denied his rightful opportunity to run.

Lewis B. Oliver Jr., Hastings Wyman Jr. and Eugene H. Zagat Jr. were elected members of the Council for next year, as over 65 per cent of the Freshman class voted. The 660 ballots cast in the election set a new record, Andrew L. Warshaw '59, chairman of the Council election committee, announced.

Freshmen were not given the opportunity to vote for Allen L. Reische '61 because his petition for nomination was not submitted before the Monday evening deadline. Reische's campaign managers argue, however, that Zagat, one of the winners in yesterday's election, also submitted his petition late.

Though he admits that this charge is true, Warshaw has maintained that Reische's petition was too late even to be included on the ballot. Warshaw also claims that Reische's campaign was "not held on a high enough level," since it used poor taste.
