A World-Class cricket team representing Pakistan will meet a combined universities team in the first and only cricket match of the season today at 11 a.m. at Soldiers Field.
The Pakistan team has just completed a series of games against West Indian squads and is currently visiting the United States on its way to Canada, where it will play an all-Canada team.
While the home team does not claim to be of the same calibre as the visiting Pakistan team, the combined universities group has 11 experienced players from Harvard, Yale, Cornell, and M.I.T., and includes one international cricketer from the West Indies who has played in Eng-the West Indies.
The game will be held on the baseball field, where the more than adequate seating accommodations will allow the spectators to decide just what's cricket.
A scoreboard will be in operation, showing the progressive scores of the teams and the individual batsmen. Any members of the audience that are confused by the intricate scoring methods will have only to ask one of the idle players to learn about the game.
It would be a good idea to bring a camera to the match, according to one of the participants. He added that those attending would "now have the chance to see why cricket is a better game than baseball."
Printed explanations of the game will be handed out at the field.
