Cook to Open on Mound for Yardling Squad In Game With Northeastern Freshmen Today

The as yet unbeaten Yardling baseball squad will travel across town this afternoon to face the Northeastern Freshmen for its fourth game of the season.

Wally Cook, who has already defeated Holy Cross and Exeter, will do the pitching for the Crimson. If Cook tires in the late innings, second baseman and captain Al Martin, who struck out 15 men in his win at Andover, will relieve him.

At first base will be Bert Messenbaugh, whose only hit of the year was a home run. Shortstop Bill Rodgers, third baseman Jerry Sullivan, and Martin will round out the starting infield.

Opening the game in left field for the Yardlings will be Charlie Ravenel, who collected four hits in five attempts against Exeter and scored the winning tally in the tenth inning. Bob Forbush, who went four for five against Andover, will start in centerfield, and Charlie Lockwood will open in left. Stu Forbes will do the catching.

In the event that Cook has to be replaced by Martin, Lockwood will move in to second base, and Dick Shima will take over in rightfield.
