Three professors have accepted invitations to speak April 28 in a forum, entitled "Is Harvard Within the Christian Tradition," under the sponsorship of the Liberal Union.
Henry D. Aiken, professor of Philosophy, Georges Florovsky, professor of Eastern Church History, and University Professor Paul J. Tillich will speak at the meeting. In addition, Roger D. Algase '59 president of the HLU, hopes to have either James L. Adams, Edward Mal linckrodt Jr. Professor of Divinity, or John H. Finley Jr. '25, Master of Eliot House.
President Pusey will be "unable to make it," Algase stated. Robert Ulich, James Bryant Conant Professor of Education, and Amos N. Wilder, Hollis Professor of Divinity, have also declined invitations to speak.
Corporation May Discuss
The question of inter-faith use of Memorial Church may form the major topic of discussion at Monday's meeting of the Corporation, reliable sources have indicated.
Neither President Pusey nor the Corporation has made any statement clarifying the "Christian tradition" of the edifice. However, such a statement may be made after the Monday meeting.
The Corporation, highest ruling board of the University, will reportedly state that Memorial Church is open to non-Christian groups, but that its "Christian character" will not be altered.
Support for President Pusey came from Meyer Kestnbaum '18 of Hart, Shaffner and Marx. At last Monday's meeting of the Board of Overseers, he favored the Christian tradition of the Church, and spoke strongly for the President's stand.
