The varsity will play its last non-Ivy League game of the regular season tomorrow night when it faces off against a weak Providence sextet at 8 p.m. on the Watson ice.
The impotent Friars should offer little threat to the Crimson, as they have one of their weakest teams in recent years. The varsity trampled them 9 to 3 in their last meeting, and B.U. beat them Wednesday night, 10 to 1.
Providence's first line of Bob and Ray Labbe, along with Joe Borale, has been its only effective scoring unit so far this season. Tom Girard, the goalie, is an above average netminder and had 46 saves in the Friars' previous loss to the varsity.
It is still doubtful whether the injured Dan Ullyot will start at defense for the varsity on Saturday. Unless Ullyot is in top shape, Crimson coach Cooney Weiland will probably keep him on the bench rather than risk further injuries that would inactivate him for the rest of the season.
The really important game this weekend, in relation to the NCAA tournament, will be between B.U. and Clarkson on Saturday night. Should Clarkson win this game, it might easily gain a bid to the tournament, either in the Terriers' place or in the varsity's.
