'Cliffe Bicycle Safety, Chaperone Regulation Discussed by R.S.G.A.

Concern for the safety of Radcliffe girls prompted the Student Government Association to consider yesterday means of encouraging greater care in riding bicycles and stricter observance of chaperonage rules.

Alarmed by the increase of bicycle mishaps earlier this winter, the SGA proposed the registration and inspection of all bicycles operated at Radcliffe. The publication of a mimeographed pamphlet entitled "How to Ride Bicycles Safely" was also suggested.

Consideration of the perennial problem of enforcing the frequently-ignored rule requiring the presence of a chaperone in a man's apartment led to less concrete results. The Board of Hall Presidents is expected to consider this matter.

Election of new SGA officers is scheduled for Feb. 27 and 28. Candidates for president are Jean Cronin '59, Cynthia Morss '59, and Gail Worshofsky '59. Campaigning for vice-president are Patricia Marx '59, Martha Mayo '59, and Nancy Proger '59.
