Drive Reaches Goal; Kirkland Takes Lead

The Combined Charities Drive passed its goal last night, as $500 collected yesterday pushed the total to more than $12,300, Peter J. Solomon '60, co-chairman of the drive, reported late last night.

This year's successful campaign collected over $4,000 more than the 1957 drive, Solomon said. In House-to-House competition, Kirkland House took the lead by a good-sized margin over second-place Dunster in per-capita contributions. Lowell House still held the lead in total money given, trailed closely by Eliot.

Blood Drive "Disappointing"

The first day of PBH's campaign to collect a record 1100 pints of blood was "slightly disappointing," Leon Rothenberg '60, co-chairman of the PBH Blood Drive, reported late yesterday.

Of the 325 scheduled to donate blood yesterday, Rothenberg said only 225 appeared at Memorial Hall, and of these a scant 185 were actually able to give blood.
