Quintet Downs Wesleyan, 66-63; Will Play Williams Here Tonight

The Crimson quintet last night eked out a 66-63 victory over a strong Wesleyan team to even its season record at one win and one loss. The varsity will play its home opener tonight at 8:30 p.m. when it faces sophomore-laden Williams at the I.A.B.

Wesleyan jumped away to an early lead, 17 to 12, but the Crimson hit for five straight points to tie the score. Moving in front on a hook shot by Griff McClellan, the varsity upped its margin to 33 to 26 at the half.

After seeing the visitors vault to a 40-27 lead, the Cardinals rallied to tie the game at 51-all with seven minutes to play. They then took a 53-52 advantage, but the varsity regained its edge and stayed in front to win.

In tonight's game, Williams will be led by its 6 ft., 5 in. center, Jeff Norton, who was the Eph's high scorer last year. At the guards will be Captain Pete Willmott and George Boynton, and at the forwards coach Al Shaw will start sophomores Sam Weaver and Bob Montgomery.

The visitors have a fairly strong albeit inexperienced supply of reserves, among them a pair of 6 ft., 8 in sophomores and several returnees from last year's team, which did not meet the Crimson.
