Combined Charities has collected a final total of $13,325.52, to close one of the most successful drives in its ten year history.

Among the Houses, Lowell collected the highest total with $1,428.72, followed by Eliot with $1,376.25, and Winthrop with $1,248.06.

The Yard amassed a total of $3,272.67, an increase of almost 100 per cent over last year. Claverly and Leverett, though well down the list in aggregate figures, showed a similar increase over last year's results.

Co-chairman David Hurwitt '60 said last night that approximately 95 per cent of all resident students were contacted. Of these about 80 per cent contributed.

Prize to Kirkland

The $20 worth of books and records offered by the Coop to the House with the highest per capita contribution was won by Kirkland, with an average gift of $3.33 per student. Lowell was a close second with a per capita return of $3.29.

The most thorough job of soliciting was done at Winthrop, where every member of the House was contacted. An estimated 92 per cent contributed.

Co-chairman Peter J. Solomon '60 said, "Each of the suggested charities will receive a minimum gift, probably ten dollars. The rest of the unallocated money will be distributed proportionally among the five recommended charities. That way each of the recommended charities will receive the same percentage of unallocated money as specifically allocated funds."
