Nuremberg Jurist To Speak Here

Herbert Wechsler, noted authority on criminal and constitutional law, will give the Oliver Wendell Holmes lectures next spring. He will probably deal with some aspects of constitutional law.

"People who know about criminal law certainly know of Wechsler," Henry M. Hart Jr. '26, Stebbins Fairchild Professor of Law, said last night. "He is an outstanding specialist, and very much a lawyer's lawyer," added Hart.

Wechsler, who holds a chair in law at Columbia University, was an assistant attorney general from 1944 to 1946. Part of that time he served at the Nuremberg Trials as a judge's adviser. At present, Wechsler is working with the American Law Institute on the drafting of a model penal code.

Last year, Judge Learned Hand '91 gave the Oliver Wendell Holmes lectures.
